Pesticida est biocidae genus, quod ad ullam pestem trahendam, illicendam, et tum destruendam designatur.[1] Usitatissimus pesticidarum usus est plantas protegere a rebus laedentibus sicut plantis inutilibus, fungis, vel insectis. Hic pesticidarum usus tam quotidianus est verbum pesticida saepe haberi synonymum locutionis merx quae plantas protegit, quamquam revera verbum latius est, quia pesticidae etiam ad proposita non agriculturalia adhibentur.
