Kenelmus Digbius
Kenelmus Digbius, eques,[1] Anglice Sir Kenelme Digbie vel Digby (ad Gayhurst comitatus Buckinghamiensis natus die 11 Iulii 1603; mortuus Londinii die 11 Iunii 1665), fuit philosophus rerum naturalium(en) aulicusque aevo Caroli I et II regum Angliae(en).
Filius fuit Everardi Digbii, qui, particeps cum Guidone Fawkes Proditionis Bombardicae(en), anno 1606 ultimo supplicio affectus est. Digbius in matrimonium anno fere 1625 Venetiam Stanley duxit, quae eo liberos liberasque peperit, atque subito anno 1633 mortua est. Ille postea se in Collegium Greshamense retraxit, ubi curiosissima experimenta chemica, alchemica, pharmacologica conduxit.
Opera plura de religione et philosophia naturali divulgari iussit; plura scripta post mortem proderunt, de "pulvere sympathetico" quem primus invenit, de plantarum vegetatione, recentius etiam de vita sua, de amore suo Venetiaeque (quam narrationem nominibus fictis celavit), de expeditione piratica anno 1628 suscepta. Insuper manuscripta praeceptorum culinariorum medicinaliumque a Digbio partim scripta, partim congessa, post eius mortem amanuensis Georgius Hartman divulgavit.
