Inde Linnaeus brevissime definivit: "Kaempferia: rotunda. Kaempferia foliis lanceolatis periolatis. Zedoaria rotunda Bauh. pin. 31; habitat in India."[2] Post quem Carolus Ludovicus Blume sub speciebus duabus sic descripsit:
- Kaempferia rotunda, Linn. K[aempferia] foliis oblongo-lanceolatis glabris subtus punctatis, spica radicali, limbi interioris laciniis superioribus lanceolatis acutis, labello obcordato. Kontje incolarum. In Javae hortis colitur ...
Kaempferia pandurata, Roxb. K[aempferia] foliis longiter petiolatis lanceolatis utrinque acuminatis infra arachnoideo-pubescentibus, spica centrali unilaterali, limbi interioris laciniis cuneatis, labello elongato panduraeformi.
