Timiditas[2] est sensus timoris, incommodi, vel ineptiae, praecipue cum homo inter alios sit. Quod plerumque in novis rerum statibus vel inter homines ignotos fit. Timiditas esse potest proprietas hominum qui sese humiliter aestimant. Validiora timiditatis genera plerumque anxietas socialis vel phobia socialis a peritis appellantur. Prima timiditatis proprietas est timor plerumque ab ego actus cogitationum aliorum de eius moribus. Qua pro causá homo timet ne libere agat ob timorem affectuum negativorum, irrisionis, dedecoris, comitatis, vel reiectionis. Homo timidus potius res sociales evitare constituere potest.[3]
