Salve, Orland!

Ave! Spero te "Vicipaedianum" aut "Vicipaedianam" fieri velle!

It's pleasant to welcome a fellow-librarian, Orland!

On Vicipaedia we see (I guess) only a very small proportion of the cross-wiki spamming that happens on some other wikis. If it relates to real places or published authors or known artists, we tend to keep it.

If you look at the items on our page Vicipaedia:Propaganda you will see how differently the wiki community has reacted to different cases of apparent self-promotion. You will see examples of minor academics who have plastered themselves across the wikispectrum without the slightest question; and also some apparently hardworking writers and painters who have been almost deleted from the map, and in one case described as a "hoax": that one seems to be a good guy really.

So, do keep on signalling them, but we may well keep on with our little collection. It may become a useful gauge of what the community likes and what it doesn't like. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 07:30, 3 Iunii 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your words. As a small wp with a exclusive reader group, you might of course be excused with your little collection of spamming memorabilia; I see that you are one of the very few wp's who showed undeserved mercy upon the subject of my first antispamming campaign: Mehmet Murat Ildan. As for mr Serrano; recent news is that the article now is deleted in es:wp; (check es:Rubén Serrano) his native language, probably due to its spamming/selfpromoting nature. Best wishes; --Orland 09:41, 3 Iunii 2008 (UTC)Reply
