Prinsepia est genus arborum familiae Rosacearum, quod fructum Pruni avium similis fert. Planta est in India, Sina, Bangladesia, et Taivania endemica,[2] sed communissima P. sinensis cultivarietas ad gradum circa –35C vivere potest.[3] Planta nomen habet ex Iacobo Prinsep, erudito, antiquario, architecto, secretario Societatis Asiaticae Calcuttae Indiae, et membrum inclutae familiae Prinsep, familiae Anglo-Indicae, in rebus Indicis nonnullas generationes praestantis.
