Physalis est genus plantarum florentium familiae Solanacearum cuius species fere omnes in America sponte gignuntur. Species recenter Physalis alkekengi appellata, in Europa et Asia occidentali nativa, hodie sub binomine Alkekengi officinarum recognoscitur.
Nomen e Graeco antiquo mutuatum est, ubi φυσάλλις inter synonyma enumeratur plantae ἁλικάκκαβον, id est Alkekengi officinarum.[1]
