Euglena
Euglena est eucaryotum unicellulare, vulgo bestiola ocellata dicta, ad classem Euglenozorum pertinens. Adhuc magis quam mille species Euglenarum descriptae sunt.

Euglenae nonnunquam vel plantae (quia complures chloroplasta habent (per endosymbiosim) vel animalia (quia flagello se movere possunt) esse arbitrantur.
Euglenae possunt cibum sumere velut animalia (partim heterotrophice), et possunt se alere velut plantae (partim autotrophice), et sunt species quae mixotrophe se alent. Euglenae possunt circumcludere cibi particulos ad illos devorandos (per phagocytosim). Multae Euglenae habent chloroplastos (vide et plastida) et chlorophyllum a & b.
Euglenae nomen traxerunt a macula ocellari, per quam se movere possunt ad lucem versus, videre quidem non possunt.
Euglenae praesertim aquam dulcem, at etiam aquam salsam et tellurem inhabitant. Vacuola eis est ad partem salis in cellula gubernandam, quin prae osmosi nimis tumesceat ac displodeat.
Aqua siccante, euglenae putamine crasso circumdant se ipsae, et dormiunt (ut sporae) donec circumiecta commodior erunt.
Euglenae fissione multiplicantur velut amoebae. Nonnunquam usque formant inflorescentiam algarum, id est aquae superficies viridi colore obtegent.
