Pellicula mensis - No more updates?
recensereWhy do we use old videos from 2022 for the Pellicula mensis category? And also, I'm planning to make some videos in Latin, and I want to know the criteria to be on Pellicula mensis. Thank you! Nguyengiabach1201 (disputatio) 05:27, 22 Iulii 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, those nymphs are beginning to look all too familiar. The page used to be updated each month by @JimKillock:. He isn't doing it now: nor is anyone else. He may respond to this. If he doesn't respond, we might conclude that the position of updater for the pellicula mensis is open. The basic requirement is to choose a video in Latin, or relevant to Latin, that is available at Commons. Yes, it could be one of yours, sometimes, if your videos are uploaded to Commons. - Any new videos would be very welcome. There are an infinite number of Catullus videos on cc licence, but not so many others that I've found. @Nguyengiabach1201
- The criteria really the same as everything else, id est, cc licenced material and decent intonation / Latin accuracy; simple Latin is fine of course. JimKillock (disputatio) 17:07, 12 Octobris 2024 (UTC)

About styling on Pagina prima
recensereI recently modified the top navigation bar on Vicipaedia:Pagina_prima/Praefatio and Vicipaedia:Pagina_prima/Encyclopaedia to center and fully utilize the page width. While reviewing other Wikipedia main pages, I noticed a consistent two-column layout instead of our current three-column format. I believe adopting a similar structure would enhance our website's appearance. The current three-column layout results in narrow columns and uneven heights, detracting from the overall aesthetic. Are there any things we can do to fix that? Nguyengiabach1201 (disputatio) 01:05, 5 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Reducing the number of columns to two looks like a good idea to me. Historically, to experiment with the front page, there was Vicipaedia:Pagina prima/Nova – but I think that that page was left behind in the meanwhile. If you want, you can create a clone of the front page in your userspace (e.g. Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima), apply your proposal, ask others for feedback, and then, if there is consensus, move the changes to the real front page. --Grufo (disputatio) 17:48, 5 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm testing it right now, but I ran to a problem: I can't change the content model of my sandbox CSS Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima/styles.css. How would I do that? Nguyengiabach1201 (disputatio) 02:17, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- I would try as follows:
- Move Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima/styles.css to Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima/styles2.css
- Move Formula:Temp/styles.css (I just created it) to Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima/styles.css
- If everything works well, add
{{Deletio celeris obliqua|CSS per errorem creatum.}}
to Disputatio usoris:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima/styles2.css

- It's done know, look pretty neat: Usor:Nguyengiabach1201/Harenaria/Pagina prima. So how do I apply a proposal? But anyway, thank you really much for your care and help! Nguyengiabach1201 (disputatio) 14:37, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Well done, I like it! I guess we have to wait for others to express their opinions. I just wrote about it in our Taberna. --Grufo (disputatio) 16:06, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)

- Sorry, I dont see the need to fix what ain't broken. This also applies to centering images in existing layout. Demetrius Talpa (disputatio) 18:02, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Demetrius. I think having three columns is a bit of a broken feature – especially now that part of the left and right sides are occupied by menus and everythings seems too compressed. If you look at en:Main Page, they use only two columns. --Grufo (disputatio) 18:08, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe that's why I'm not in the English section (no, that's a joke). I would understand if they tried to squeeze the whole page into one screen, even if it's 5 columns - and stretch it across 7 screens, like that... No one ever sees what's underneath.. Demetrius Talpa (disputatio) 18:27, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- The new “thinner” layout definitely penalizes some of our pages. See Vicipaedia:Praefatio for example, where I had to fight hard to make the three columns barely fit into the screen – before my intervention the page looked like this. Of course Vicipaedia:Pagina prima does not look as extreme, but I suspect that having two columns might benefit the overall appearance. --Grufo (disputatio) 18:56, 6 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe whatever looks best on mobile devices should be the governing criterion. IacobusAmor (disputatio) 20:58, 17 Augusti 2024 (UTC)

Pagina quotidiana
recensereHello, and sorry for "my" bad English: it's the translation machine's fault. The proposed new system seems a little complicated to me. I myself have been suggesting the "pagina quotidiana" every day since the midst of April 2021. I would like to hand this duty over to someone else. Who would like to take on this duty? Thank you. - Giorno2 (disputatio) 19:07, 17 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Giorno2! First of all, I would like to thank you for your incessant work on our Pagina cottidiana. I find it really remarkable! What is the “proposed new system” you mention? --Grufo (disputatio) 00:43, 18 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
- I have to admit that I think that both versions, the old and the new, are OK. I'm not a big fan of change in general. And I don't want to rethink what needs to be done when setting up the "pagina quotidiana". In addition, I don't always have access to a computer and only have a simple smartphone. Every new change almost causes panic in someone who is not open to change. - Apart from that, I would like to have someone take over the task of finding a "pagina quotidiana" that is worthy of content and language level (which may involve proofreading again, but does not have to). It would be great if I could hand it over. Maybe as early as the beginning of September 2024. - Giorno2 (disputatio) 05:20, 18 Augusti 2024 (UTC) [Si Anglicum dolet, inculpetur machina translationis. - We could try to manage the Pagina cottodiana collectively by checking page creations once a day. But I hope you will reconsider... Sometimes we have to adapt to changes that come from outside; Wikipedia's look is decided centrally by MediaWiki's team, and along the way they decided to increase the font size and occupy the sides of the screen with menus, so the horizontal space available to pages got reduced. If we decided to move from three columns to two, it would only be because of that, and not because we decided to change for the sake of change. --Grufo (disputatio) 11:01, 18 Augusti 2024 (UTC)
