Samuel Crompton
Samuel Crompton (natus 10 Firwood Fold Boltoniae Lancastriae mense Decemberi 1753; mortuus ibidem apud 17 via King 26 Iunii 1827) fuit inventor Anglicus et auctor nendi industrialis.[1] Opus Iacobi Hargreaves et Ricardi Arkwright amplificans, mulum nendi excogitavit, quae machina per orbem terrarum artem nendi novavit.[2][3]
Iuvenis quaestum faciens violina in theatro oppidano ludere solebat. In templo paroechiali Boltoniensi die 16 Februarii 1780 quandam Mariam Pimlott (vel Pimbley) duxit. Eis erant octo liberi, inter quos Georgius Crompton (natus 8 Ianuarii 1781), qui demum negotium familiare administraverit.[4]
