Moraceae
Moraceae (nomen botanicum a Bartholomaeo du Mortier statutum) sunt familia plantarum florentium quae circa quadraginta genera et plus quam mille comprehendit species, quarum plurimae sunt longe lateque diffusae in regionibus tropicis et subtropicis, minus in climatibus temperatis. Unica intra Moraceas synapomorphia est praesentia lactiferorum et suci lactei in omnibus parenchymatum textilibus, sed generatim utiles proprietates agrestes sunt duo carpella, uno aliquantum deminuto, flores compositi inconspicui, et fructus compositi.[1] Inter Moraceas sunt multae plantae notissimae, praecipue Artocarpus altilis, Broussonetia papyrifera, Castilla elastica, Ficus carica, Ficus benghalensis, Maclura pomifera, et nonnullae generis Mori species. Flores Moracearum saepe sunt inflorescentiae deminutae, pseudanthia appellatae.
Classificatio
recensereMoraceae in ordine Urticalium (nunc defuncto) olim ponebantur, sed secundum recentiores investigationes geneticas in Rosalibus nunc ponuntur, in clado appellato rosidis urticaleanis, qui etiam Cannabaceas, Celtidaceas, Ulmaceas, et Urticaceas comprehendit. Plantae generis Cecropiae, quae in Moraceis, Urticaceis, vel sua familia, Cecropicaceis, varie ponebantur, ad Urticaceis nunc pertinent.[2]
Dioecia Moracearum se ex monoecia evolvisse putatur: dioecia erat status priscus inter Moraceas, et monoecia ex eo quater evolvi videtur.[3]
