Ioannes Winter Jones
Ioannes, vulgo John Winter Jones (natus apud Lambeth Londinii anno 1805; mortuus apud Henley-on-Thames die 7 Septembris 1881), filius et nepos scriptorum, philologus ipse et recensor, fuit bibliothecarius principalis Musei Britannici ab anno 1866 usque ad 1873.

Ioannes Winter Jones, e stirpe Cambrico ortus, munus iuxta Commissionem Caritatum Londinii accepit ibique operam dedit usque ad annum 1837; postea in bibliotheca Musei Britannici laboravit, directoribus Henrico Ellis et Antonio Panizzi, cui in praeparatione regularum catalogizationis Ninety-One Cataloguing Rules adiuvit. Jones ipse, successor Panizzi, museum et bibliothecam direxit ab anno 1866, quo tempore aedificia collectionibus naturalibus destinata (nunc Museum Britannicum Historiae Naturalis) in pago suburbano constructa sunt.
Jones fuit vice-praeses Societatis Antiquariorum et ab anno 1877 praeses Adsociationis Bibliothecariae. Volumina tres pro Societate Hakluyt recensuit, inter quae reperimus opera Ludovici Vertomanni et Hakluyti ipsius; opus etiam Poggii Bracciolini de Indiis nuper inventis Anglice vertit.
