Ioannes Milton Ward
Ioannes Milton Ward (natus Quercupoli Californiae, 6 Iulii 1917; mortuus Cantabrigiae Massachusettae die 12 Decembris 2011) fuit musicologus Americanus.
Musicae studuit in Civico Sancti Francisci Collegio (A.B., 1941), litteris cum Ottone Gombosi in Universitate Vasingtoniae (M.M., 1942), compositioni musicae privatim cum Dario Milhaud, qui eo tempore (1943–1944) in Collegio Mills docebat, ethnomusicologiae cum Georgio Herzog in Universitate Columbiae (1945–1946), atque doctrinae summi ordinis cum Curtio Sachs et Gustavo Reese in Universitate Novi Eboraci (Ph.D., 1953), specimine eruditionis de viola manuali Hispanica adhibito. Instructor interea fuit in Civica Michiganiae Universitate (1947–1953), professor adiutor et tunc socius in Universitate Illinoesiae (1953–1955), musicae professor ordinarius (1955–1961) et musicae professor Gulielmus Powell Mason (1961–1985) in Universitate Harvardiana, et professor emeritus post 1985. Ipse fuit generalis gregis Pantomime, Ballet and Social Dance seriei Music for London Entertainment (Musica pro delectatione Londiniensi) editor (Londini 1990–2011), et Saltationis Musicaeque Theatri in Bibliotheca Collegii Harvardiani curator honoris causa.
Sua studia peculiaria fuerunt musicorum saeculi sexti decimi instrumentorum, praecipue Angliae et Hispaniae, musicae Elizabethanae in universum, et popularis musicae Anglicae a saeculo sexto decimo ad hodiernum diem. Fructus investigationum in diligentibus divulgavit libellis, qui exemplaria attenti muneris pensique bibliographici omnino habentur, sed gravissima ad musicologiam vis est auctoritas apud nonnullas hominum Harvardianorum doctrinae studiosorum aetates, quas docuit "gravem rationem musicologicam, validam diligentiae observantiam, momentum reputatorum argumentorum recte factorum, et specimen totius fontium bibliographicorum moderationis."[1] Inter suos discipulos fuerunt Howardus Mayer Brown, Ioannes Gualterius Hill, Masakata Kanazawa, Iacobus Wainwright Love, Martinus Miller Marks, Anna Dhu McLucas, Arthurus J. Ness, Curtis Alexander Price Eques, Carolus B. Schmidt, Thomas Vennum, Rolandus Ioannes Wiley, et Craig Wright.
