Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria
Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (SV 325, Reditus Ulixis in patriam) est opera in prologo et quinque actibus consistens (deinde ad tres retractata) a Claudio Monteverdi ad libellum Iacobi Badoaro composita. Opera primum in Theatro Sanctorum Ioannis et Pauli Venetiis tempore carnelevarii 1639–1640 data est. Fabula, quae argumentum ex ultima parte Homeri Odysseae trahit,[1] fidelitatem et virtutem compensari perfidiamque et fraudem puniri docet. Ulixes, rex Ithacae, post iter longum ex bello Troiano suam domum ad ultimum attingit, ubi tres proci scelesti regnum ceperunt et matrimonium a Penelope, regina fideli, flagitant. Deis, Telemacho filio, et Eumete firmo amico adiuvantibus, Odysseus procos vincit et iterum regnat.
