Historia
recensereIn pagis suburbanis urbis hodiernae Hanchei reperiuntur situs archaeologicus Kuahuqiao atque vestigia urbis praehistoricae Liangzhu, locus praecipuus culturae cui idem nomen datur locusque patrimonii mundani.
Nomen antiquissimum huius urbis fuit Yuhang 餘杭, cui nomini veteres etymologi significationem "traiectus Yu" attribuerunt: Yu enim, rex mythicus, saeculo fere XXII a.C.n. duces bellorum meridianos hoc loco congregaverit. Anno 589[3] novum nomen Hangzhou, scilicet "praefectura traiecti" acceptum est.[4] Anno 1141, imperatore Gaozong ibi refugium petente, urbs cognomen meruit Xingzai scil. "domus imperatoris temporaria", e quo derivatur appellatio Europaea mediaevalis Quinsai.[5][6]
Urbs Yuhang (ab hodiernis Hangzhou appellata) in imperium Sinense anno fere 222 a.C.n. comprehensa est sub praefectura antiqua Kuaiji. Inter annos 907 et 978 caput fuit regni Wuyue.
