Gulielmus Labov
Gulielmus (vulgo Bill[1]) Labov (natus Rutherford in vico Novae Caesareae die 4 Decembris 1927; mortuus die 17 Decembris 2024) fuit linguista Americanus qui conditor disciplinae sociolinguisticae variationisticae late habetur.[2] Descriptus est "persona propria et auctoritate gravis praeter modum, qui multum methodologiae excogitavit" sociolinguisticae.[3][4] Nunc professor emeritus in ordine linguisticarum Universitatis Pennsylvaniensis investigationes sociolinguisticae, mutationis linguisticae, et dialectologiae administrat. Se ab officio vere anni 2014 exeunte removit.
Gradus academicos in Collegio Harvardiano (Artium Baccalaureatus, 1948) atque Universitate Columbiae (Artium Magister, 1963, et Philosophiae Doctor, 1964) meruit. In Universitate Columbiae (1964–70) docebat antequam professor linguisticae in Universitate Pennsylvaniensi creatus est (1971). Anno 1985, diploma honoris causa ex Ordine Humanitatum Universitatis Upsaliensis in Suecia accepit.[5]
