Go Set a Watchman ('Vade, et pone speculatorem') est mythistoria Harper Lee, scriptricis Americanae, die 14 Iulii 2015 ab HarperCollins in Civitatibus Foederatis et Gulielmo Heinemann in Britanniarum Regno edita. Liber scriptus est ante To Kill a Mockingbird, solum auctricis mythistoriam prius editam (1960). Inscriptio locum ex Libro Isaiae 21:6 affert: "Haec enim dixit mihi Dominus: Vade, et pone speculatorem, et quodcumque viderit annuntiet."[1] Qui Atticum Finch commemorat, patrem heroinae Scout Finch et moralem vici Maycomb Alabamae ancoram, speculatorem ipsum.[2]

Harper Lee Praemium Libertatis Praesidentiale in Aedibus Albis die 5 Novembris 2007 accipit.

Mythistoria de Scout Finch nunc adulta narrat, quae iter a Novo Eboraco ad Maycomb ad Atticum Finch patrem visitandum facit, viginti annos post res libri To Kill a Mockingbird gestas. Secundum publicatorem, Scout "se rebus ambobus personalibus et civilibus opponere cogitur cum habitum patris erga societatem et suam sententiam de loco ubi nata erat pueritiamque degerat intellegere conatur.[3][4] Go Set a Watchman multas ex personis prioris mythistoriae depingit.[5]

Historia progressus mythistoriae

Go Set a Watchman, quamquam a relatoribus sequelam auctricis felicissimae mythistoriae appellatus, mediis annis 1950 scriptus erat, antequam Lee To Kill a Mockingbird scripsit, qui anno 1960 editus est.

Liber inventus

Manuscriptum mythistoriae primum deperditum putabatur. Secundum The New York Times, manuscriptum per dactylographium factum per aestimationem bonorum auctricis anno 2011 in arca depositorum tutorum Monroeville in vico Alabamae, in patria auctricis inventum est.[12][13] Deinde Tonja Carter, auctricis iurisconsultus, retexit se primum assumpsisse manuscriptum praematurum mythistoriae To Kill a Mockingbird exemplar fuisse; aestate autem anni 2014, in conventu familiae auctricis, exsistentiam cognovit alterius mythistoriae, et tum arcam depositorum tutorum investigans, manuscriptum mythistoriae Go Set a Watchman invenit. Postquam cum auctrice locuta erat et manuscriptum legerat, id Andreae Nurnberg dedit, auctricis negotiorum curatori.[14][15]

Receptio

Prima recognitio in New York Times personam Attici descripsit taetram, quia "dementibus furiosis integrationem contradicentibus, nigricolores contradicentibus, familiariter utitur, lectorque horroris et confusionis [heroinae] particeps est."[16] Censor in Wall Street Journal veram libri materiam ademptionem erroris appellavit.[17] Contra invidiam Attici in mythistoria, causam causae in To Kill a Mockingbird similem vicit.[18]
