Fretum Ormusense

Fretum Ormusense[1] vel Fretum Ormus[2] (Persice تنگه هرمز Tangeh-ye Hormoz; Arabice مَضيق هُرمُز Maḍīq Hurmuz) est fretum quod inter Sinum Persicum et Sinum Omanensem patet. Solus transitus maritimus a Sinu Persico ad oceanum apertum, unus ex mundo locis strangulationis maximi momenti est.[3] Patent in litore septentrionali Irania, et in litore meridiano Emiratus Arabici Coniuncti et Musandam, exclavatura Omanae. Fretum est 104 fere milium passum nauticorum longum et a 52 milia passum nautica ad 21 milia passuum nautica latum.[4][5] Intra hoc corpus aquae sunt duae insulae, Harmozia[6] (Ormus) et Caramana[7] (Qeshm). Urbes ad freti litus iacentes sunt Bandar Abbas et Khasab.
