Amaranthoideae sunt subfamilia Amaranthacearum. Staminibus sunt antherae binis loculis et quattuor saccis pollinis. Distributio geographica subfamiliae plerumque est in America et Africa tropica, Africa Austrina, atque Australia. Genera Amaranthus et Celosia multas species ornamentales continent, cum speciebus quarum semina pro pseudopcerealibus et folia pro holeribus adhibentur.

recensereSubfamilia Amaranthoideae circa quinquaginta septem genera et circa 330 species comprehendit. Studia phylogenetica demonstrant subfamiliam esse polyphyleticam et eius classificationem usitatam (tribum Amarantheae Rchb., cum duabus subtribubus, Amaranthinis et Aervinis) coniunctionem phylogeneticam non sustinere.[1] Ergo, nova classificatio taxinomica necessaria est.
