Solanum violaceum
Solanum violaceum (binomen a Casimiro de Ortega anno 1798 statutum) est planta florens generis Solani subgenerisque Leptostemoni. "Planta" secundum Ortegam "fruticosa, undique aculeata, ulnaris; caulis erectus, a radice ramosus, subteres, nuperne compressus, leviter tomentosus, violaceus, nitidiusculus ... folia petiolata, sparsa, cordata, lobati-sinuata, obtusa, tomentosa ... aculei caulini recurvi, foliorum recti ... corolla dilute violacea ...bacca ciceris magnitudinis".[1]

Crebrius sponte gignitur in India, Srilanca, Casmiria, Nepalia, Bangladesia, Birmania, omnibus Asiae austro-orientalis civitatibus, Iunnania et omni Serica australi, insulis Oceani Indici, fortasse et Sumatra Iavaque. Ex Iava Miquelius sub nomine S. junghuhnii descripsit.[2]
Traditione Indica Ayurveda S. violaceum (synonymo S. indicum saepe usitato) inter decem radices recipitur quae daśamula nominantur.
