Robertus Iosephus Flaherty, FRGS (16 Februarii 1884—23 Iulii 1951) fuit fabricator pellicularum Americanus qui Nanook of the North (1922) moderatus est et produxit, primam pelliculam documentariam longitudinis plenae in commercio felix. Haec pellicula eius honestatem confirmavit, et nihil quod Flaherty postea effecit hanc rem gestam penitus aequavit, quamquam hoc novum artis genus evolvere perrexit, docufictionis appellatum, in pelliculis Moana (1926), in Polynesia posita, et Man of Aran (1934), in Insulis Aranensibus Hiberniae capta.

Flaherty Franciscam H. Flaherty anno 1914 duxit, quae operam nonnullis mariti pelliculis dedit, et nominationem Praemii Academiae pro optima fabula originali pro Louisiana Story (1948) accepit.
