Pomatomidae sunt familia piscium ordinis Perciformium. Sola huius familiae species hodie vivens est Pomatomus saltatrix, quae in oceanis omnis orbis terrarum endemica est.

Si fossile monte Bolca in Italia e lapidibus stadii Ypresii extracta, Carangopsis nominata, re vera ad Pomatomidas pertinet, haec familia abhinc 49.11 milies milium annorum iam exstabat.[1][2] Quo excepto, fossile antiquissimum Pomatomidarum est Lednevia horizontis Zuramakent sub monte Caucaso iacentis, stadio sive Aquitanio seu Burdigalio attributi.[1][3]
