Ioannes Neal (scriptor)
Ioannes Neal (natus Portlandiae Cenomannicae 25 Augusti 1793; ibidem mortuus 20 Iunii 1876), fuit auctor, poeta, iudexque litterarum et artium. Vir fuit ingeniorum et propositorum variorum, quorum multa eius tempora nova erant. Exempli gratia, primus fuit scriptor Americanus qui colloquialismo in eius operibus usus est, traditiones iustas in litteris frangens.[1] Etiam fuit suasor iurum mulierum, prohibitionismi, motusque temperantiae, adversarius viritim pugnarum, causidicus eruditus, pugil avidus, adeo architectus.
Vita
recensereMaiores erant Tremebundi.[2] Matriculavit in schola iurisprudentiae Baltimorae in Terra Mariae anno 1815. Quaestum discipulus fecit commentariis quos pro periodico loci scribere solebat, ac The Delphian Club, sodalitatem litterarum, condere adiuvit. Editor deinde fuit The Portico, periodici quod sodales Delphiani condiderant, rei menstruae fugacis sed auctoritate gravis et magnopere observatae.[3] Mythistorias sex duoque poemata epica protulit, pseudonymo Jehu O'Cataract scribens, nomine quod sui propter fabricationem rapidam ei per ludibrium dederant.[4][5]
Londinii annis ab anno 1824 ad annum 1827 habitabat, ubi pro Blackwood's Magazine scribebat, et Brother Jonathan, or the New Englanders mythistoriam in Anglia protulit. In eius columna pro Blackwood's sententiam de vita Americana dicebat, auctoresque Americanos iudicabat. Post autem iurgium cum editore Blackwood's, pro nonnullis aliis periodicis scribere coepit, inter quae Westminster Review. Mox socius cuiusdam sodalitatis disceptionis in Ieremiam Bentham incidit, quocum Londinii commorabatur. Post Lutetiam visitatam, ad Portlandiam Cenomannicae navigavit.
Praeter eius opera litterarum, Neal nonnulla gymnasia Portlandiae et omnem per Cenomannicam condidit.[6] Qua pro causa saepe appellatur pater athleticarum ordinatarum Cenomannicae. Senex fortem corporis habitum iam tenebat, quem monstravit cum anno aetatis suae 79 obstinatum sigarorum fumatorem e curru non fumante eiecit.[7]
