Alocasia est rhizomatosum vel tuberosum plantarum perennium foliis latis familiae Aracearum genus, cui sunt septuaginta et octo species,[1] in Asia tropica et subtropica ad Australiam orientalem naturaliter habitantes, atque in Oceania Americaque Meridiana late cultae.

Descriptio
recensereFolia, cordata vel sagittata, a 20 ad 90 centimetra longa in petiolis crescunt. Flores, in termino pedicellorum brevium, sunt aracei et inconspicui, saepe post petiolos foliorum celati.
Caulis est cormus edulis, sed raphida acidi oxalici crystalla continet, quae linguam pharyngemque inflare possunt. Partes inferiores plus veneni continent.
