Rhizophoraceae sunt familia angiospermarum tropicarum aut subtropicarum. Notissimae sunt arbores generis Rhizophorae. Sunt circa 120 species, in sedecim generibus digestae, plurimae in Mundo Vetere endemicae.

Hae plantae sunt ligneae, foliis oppositis vel verticillatis (sed non decussatis), floribus ab insectis pollinatis, disco nectario et plerumque quinque petalis. Familia nunc in ordine Malpighialibus posita est, quamquam in Systemate Cronquist ei suus fuit ordo proprius, Rhizophorales.

Hae species saepe sunt hermaphroditae, rarius polygamomonoeciae; eae plerumque sunt viviparae, sed species terrenae non sunt.

Aliquae species lignum gignunt quod aedificationi in aqua (vel pilings?) providentur. Tannina ex arboris cortice obtinentur.
