Pritchardia[2] est genus arborum familiae Arecacearum, quod in 24–40 speciebus palmarum flabellarum tribus Coryphearum consistit, in tropicis Oceani Pacifici insulis natum, et praecipue in Havaiis, Samoa, Tonga, Tuamotuibus, et Vitiis excultum.

Descriptio

Hae palmae altitudine inter se late variantur, a 20 m ad 130 m.[3] Folia sunt costapalmata. Truncus est columnaris, nudus, laevis vel fibrosus, in longitudinem sulcatus, et cicatricibus foliorum delapsorum obscure annulatus. Flores fructusque in fasciculo terminali portantur, ramis simplicibus vel compositis, inflorescentiis arcuatis vel pendulis, quae in aliquibus speciebus sunt foliis longiores.

Sunt viginti novem species, quarum undeviginti sunt in Havaiis endemicae, reliquaeque in aliis Oceani Pacifici gregibus.
