Leonardus (Anglice Leonard) Bloomfield (Sicagi natus die 1 Aprilis 1887; mortuus Portu Novo Connecticutae die 18 Aprilis 1949) fuit linguista Americanus, qui evolutionem linguisticae structuralis in Civitatibus Foederatis annis 1930 et 1940 efficaciter direxit. Language, liber definitivus quem anno 1933 divulgavit, linguisticam structuralem Americanam amplissime descripsit.[1] Maxime in linguisticam Indoeuropaeam ac linguas Austronesicas Algonquianasque describendas conferebat. Scientifica linguisticae fundamentis iciens, behaviorismum (praecipue in operibus ultimis) suadebat, rationibusque formalibus ad data linguistica explicanda consulebat. Gratia autem linguisticae structuralis Bloomfieldianae annis 1950 exeuntibus et 1960 deficiebat, cum theoria grammaticae generativae a Noam Chomsky excogitatae in linguistica academica dominari inciperet.

Iuvenis Collegium Harvardianum (A.B.) atque universitates Visconsiniensem Madisoniae, Chicagoensem (Ph.D.), Lipsiensem, et Regiam Georgiam Augustam Gottingae scholasticus frequentavit. Anno 1924, Societati Linguisticae Americae conditae interfuit.
