Ioannes Trumbull (poeta)
Ioannes Trumbull (24 Aprilis 1750—11 Maii 1831) fuit poeta Americanus. Natus est in loco nunc Watertown Connecticutae appellato, ubi pater praedicator Congregationalis fuit. Gradum A.B. in Universitate Yalensi anno 1767 adeptus est. Iuvenis The Progress of Dulness (1772–1773), suam saturam primam in versibus, scripsit, petitionem in rationes educationis sui temporis in tribus poematibus designatum. Suum poema maximum, quod eum cum Philippo Freneau et Francisco Hopkinson in numerum saturicorum politicorum Americanorum tempore Belli Libertatis Americani refert, M'Fingal fuit, cuius primus canto, "The Town-Meeting," anno 1776 (1775 attributum) apparuit.[1][2] Post bellum, Trumbull foederalista rigidus fuit. Socius Academiae Artium et Scientiarum Americanae anno 1791 electus est.[3]
