Celeber hodie est propter fabula quae narrat eum Groenlandiam et Americam Septentrionalem paene centum annos ante Columbum exploravisse. Gulielmus Thomson, in The New History of Orkney, scripsit: "Singularis Henrici Comitis fortuna fuit existimationem semper crescentem habere quae vix pertinet ad quamlibet rem quae ipse vivus perfecit."[1]
