Harvey (liquamen)
Liquamen Harvey (Anglice Harvey's Sauce), interdum Harvey tantum, fuit liquamen saeculo XVIII exeunte excogitatum et in Anglia usque in annum 1900 sub eodem nomine venditatum; quo anno, appellatione iam publici iuris facto, idem liquamen per annos fere septuagina sub novo nomine Lazenby's Sauce venundatum erit.
Inter condimenta Byron anno 1818 sic enumeravit:
- And therefore humbly I would recommend
- "The curious in fish-sauce," before they cross
- The sea, to bid their cook, or wife, or friend,
- Walk or ride to the Strand, and buy in gross
- (Or if set out beforehand, these may send
- By any means least liable to loss)
- Ketchup, Soy, Chili-vinegar, and Harvey,
- Or by the Lord! a Lent will well nigh starve ye
("Reverenter igitur vos urgeo, qui liquamina appetitis, ne ultra mare transeatis nisi aut coquum aut mulierem aut amicum mandaveritis ad viam Ripariam(en) pedeve equove properare ibique copiose emere—at, iam si transissetis, vobis modo quoquo securissimo transmittere—kecap, soiam, acetum capsicorum, liquamenque Harvey; nam sine his per ista ieiunia medius fidius inanitate moriemini!").[1]
