Gulielmus Strachey
Gulielmus Strachey (natus die 4 Aprilis 1572—sepultus 16 Augusti 1621) fuit scriptor Anglicus cuius opera inter primos fontes historiae primae deductionis coloniarum in Americam Septentrionalem sunt. Hodie memoria optime tenetur quia particeps fuit in naufragio Bermudae, in insula deserta, navis colonicae Sea Venture, quae ab huracano cum ad Virginiam anno 1609 navigaret capta est. Naufragi, postquam duas naves parvas aedificaverant cum in insula decem menses commorati essent, Virginiam tandem attigerunt. Stracheyanus naufragii coloniaeque Virginianae relatus a plurimis litterarum eruditis fons putatur Tempestatis, ludi scaenici Gulielmi Shakesperii fuisse.
Strachey sonnetam "Upon Sejanus" composuit,[1] in editione anni 1605 prolata Sejanus His Fall ludi scaenici anni 1603 a Beniamino Jonson docti.[2][3]
