Yes, and you can tell me what my page interferes on the other articles? I'm not causing any problems on other pages, you just go to my page if you want, no one is forcing you. --HunteWinchester123 (disputatio) 21:27, 12 Februarii 2017 (UTC)Reply

I did not claim that your userpage interferes with articles. However, as I have explained on Disputatio Usoris:HunteWinchester123, userpages that do not support the purpose of creating an encyclopedia written in good Latin do not have a place on la.wikipedia. --UV (disputatio) 21:39, 12 Februarii 2017 (UTC)Reply

an help for Sara Thonig

recensere

Good morning from Calabria, I am writing to say hello and know how you are. I'm fine for now. I am writing to ask for your help with regard to Sarah Thonig page in Latin, I saw that you are German-speaking, I was wondering if you could possibly help me to expand and improve the page, just and no more than 10 minutes of your precious time. Thank you in advance from the heart and I wish you a happy day.--Luigi Salvatore Vadacchino (disputatio) 06:53, 11 Martii 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I am sorry but I do not find it easy to expand this article, because the article about this actress in German in my view does not really contain important facts, neither do the articles in English or French … Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 21:56, 11 Martii 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi, UV. Do you have any thoughts about the new {{Notae}}, including whether it's better to insert it as a formula or to subst: it? There's a recent discussion on the Taberna -- I won't attempt to link to it precisely :) Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 14:12, 14 Martii 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, I have added my views there. Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 21:52, 14 Martii 2017 (UTC)Reply

Interface problem

recensere

Hi, UV. I mention this to you in case you can think of a reason. I'm getting a curious problem with the interface this afternoon. In the Latin Vicipaedia only, logged in as Andrew Dalby, I don't get HotCat, I don't get the little Wikidata link under the pagename (not that that matters much any more), I don't get any search help when I've typed more than 2 letters into the search box, and navboxes which are supposed to collapse appear always expanded. But on other language Wikipedias all these things seem to work normally for me. And, what's more, if I switch to an alternative username it works OK for me even in Latin.

My usual browser is Opera. Now if I use Firefox instead, other things seem to work OK even in Latin, but I still, in Latin only, don't get the little Wikidata link under the pagename. I have tried clearing my cache on Opera, but that doesn't seem to have any effect. There are no recent changes in my common.js. So what is it? Any ideas? Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 15:24, 28 Aprilis 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hmmm. The little Wikidata link under the pagename should appear because your meta:User:Andrew Dalby/global.js calls d:User:Yair rand/WikidataInfo.js.
One possible reason for the phenomena you describe: Some error in your User:Andrew Dalby/common.js or in your Usor:Andrew Dalby/vector.js (or in meta:User:Andrew Dalby/global.js/d:User:Yair rand/WikidataInfo.js) causes JavaScript in your browser not to work properly any more. With JavaScript not working properly, you will neither get HotCat nor the little Wikidata link under the pagename nor search autocomplete nor collapse working.
You might want to try blanking your User:Andrew Dalby/common.js and/or your Usor:Andrew Dalby/vector.js and/or your meta:User:Andrew Dalby/global.js and to check whether HotCat works again after your have blanked those. Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 22:54, 28 Aprilis 2017 (UTC)Reply
Good call. After blanking all three, and then restoring meta:User:Andrew Dalby/global.js, these things work properly again. I haven't yet restored the two local pages. Logically the problem lies between javascript-plus-the-global-page and one of those two local pages (because on other language wikis I noticed no problem). Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 11:19, 29 Aprilis 2017 (UTC)Reply
I didn't continue testing yesterday because I had other things to do, but just now when I restored my local .vector.js the same problems recurred. So I have blanked it again. I can manage without the function it offered, so all seems well now as far as I'm concerned! Thanks very much for your advice on this.
Just in case it's relevant: in the last 3 days I got tired of seeing Microsoft Edge come up when I logged in to my computer, so I disabled Microsoft Edge, apparently successfully, by slightly modifying the name of the folder containing its program files. Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 11:16, 30 Aprilis 2017 (UTC)Reply
Glad HotCat works again! I am alas not familiar with Microsoft Edge, so I cannot tell whether this has something to do with it. Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 12:10, 30 Aprilis 2017 (UTC)Reply
Continuing the story, I noticed the same problems today for the first time when using English Wikipedia. So I blanked my vector.js over there, and the problems went away. It's still not evident, I guess, whether the "fault" is with the vector.js files, or my current installation of java, or something external to both ... but it's easy enough to live with meanwhile. de episcopis

When the telephone rang while guests were present, my father used to leap up, saying, "That'll be the archbishop!" It never was, but the guests were always impressed. "That'll be the bishop" wouldn't have had the same effect at all. So, on reflection, you were right about "Archiepiscopi Vindobonenses" :) Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 13:47, 18 Iulii 2017 (UTC)Reply

Help

Hi. I've got the High- and Medium-Priority Lint Errors on Ladino Wikipedia cleared up, except for two. I think they stem (mainly) from a single template there. But that template uses HTML table markup, and I just don't know that well enough to have confidence I won't screw it up. Can you give me a hand? Thanks. StevenJ81 (disputatio) 15:34, 29 Septembris 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello, the two errors on lad:Special:LintErrors/fostered simply went away when I purged the two pages – no change necessary! The ones on lad:Special:LintErrors/html5-misnesting (from lad:Template:Coord) are a bit trickier. I am not sure about those, but you might want to try to remove the <small></small> tags from lad:Template:Coord, then purge the pages listed on lad:Special:LintErrors/html5-misnesting and see whether that helped or not. Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 21:58, 29 Septembris 2017 (UTC)Reply

INSEE

recensere

I know you've been using the INSEE formula on pages about French communes for checking against Wikidata. Having made Formula:Fontes geographici to be added to any page about a town or city, I believe that the INSEE indentifier could be inserted in it. I could even (I think) redirect Formula:INSEE commune to Formula:Fontes geographici, thus adding, at the stroke of a pen, a couple more useful external links to all the pages on French communes. But perhaps, for the sake of your work or for other reasons, you'd prefer the INSEE formula to remain separate? Please comment -- thanks! Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 12:13, 20 Octobris 2017 (UTC)Reply

No need for the INSEE formula to remain separate. Good idea to change Formula:INSEE commune so that it will display the contents of Formula:Fontes geographici. Please just add an INSEE link to Formula:Fontes geographici, and I can take care of everything else. Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 22:34, 20 Octobris 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, that's very kind of you. (I am in fact quite busy right now in what is alleged to be the real world ... hard to believe sometimes ...) I have added the INSEE link to Formula:Fontes geographici. The two formulas currently appear together on only about five pages, one of which is Nicaea (Francia). Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 18:10, 21 Octobris 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! I have now changed Formula:INSEE commune accordingly (and removed the duplicate template call from the five articles where both templates were shown). Greetings, --UV (disputatio) 20:23, 21 Octobris 2017 (UTC)Reply
