Start of discussion recensere

Perhaps we should begin discussion of what to put up next month. What is the customary means of deciding this question on other wikis anyway? --Iustinus 23:21 feb 23, 2005 (UTC)

I believe the practice on en: for the daily article is to use (whether at random or by lot I'm not sure) a Featured Article that has not already been so featured. (Also, I think it has to have at least one picture, which can go on the front page, but I don't know if any article could reach Featured status without images anyway.) I don't think there's been enough "brilliant prose" on la: yet to inspire the creation of a category for featured articles from which to draw our page of the month from though. —Myces Tiberinus 05:22 feb 24, 2005 (UTC)

OK, I'll make some nominations and see if that gets a response. Off hand I can think of only a couple suitable pages, and all of them have problems:

  1. Ius Romanum, Thomas Rüfner's magnum opus. The main problem with this one is that I'm not happy with the picture. Dr. Rüfner might be able to provide us with something better, but he's usually too busy to work here.
  2. Leivus Erici filius. The problem with this one is that I wrote it, and humility constrains me to vote against it ;)
  3. Nicolaus Cazantzaces. This article combines the problems of the other two: I wrote it, and it doesn't have a picture.

There are other worthy articles out there, especially among Myces' "translation of the week" an biological contributions. Please suggest your favorites. --Iustinus 20:33 feb 28, 2005 (UTC)

Ius Romanum recensere

Since no one has expressed an oppinion on this subject for half a year, and since Thomas Rüfner has uploaded an appropriate illustration, I am going to change the Page of the Month to Ius Romanum. If anyone disagrees, bring it up here (but I wish you would have done so a few months ago!). Now would be a good time to start looking for other good articles too. --Iustinus 20:19 iun 2, 2005 (UTC)

Pagina Iulii Mensis recensere

Candidates for next month's Pagina Mensis. Please post your own suggestions. --Iustinus 01:10 iun 6, 2005 (UTC)

  1. Leivus Erici filius. Problems: I wrote it.
  2. Nicolaus Cazantzaces. Problems: I wrote it, no good picture.
  3. Joannes Hildebrandus Withofius. Problems: Needs to be encyclopedified (See the disputatio page for details).
  4. Anna (regina Anglica). Problems: needs some minor editing. We may want to avoid articles on English history for a while, after the whole Catharina Aragonensis debacle ;)
  5. Ratisbona.
  6. L. Annaeus Seneca minor.
  7. C. Iulius Caesar.

We're already on July so I'll vote for Ratisbona. I guess the other articles deserve to be "Pagina mensis" too (except Withofius, which is not ready yet), so I think we should use this same list in the next month. --Mafrius 13:18 iul 13, 2005 (UTC)

Pagina Decembris Mensis recensere

I'm still hoping to see a new pagina mensis, so I thought I'd start the ball rolling again for suggestions: --Tbook 18:16, 29 Novembris 2005 (UTC)Reply

I like the first three, would be happy to see any of them on the main page. Nicolaus 01:06, 21 Decembris 2005 (UTC)Reply

Asteroides is a very well written article. It passes the size, length, and picture requirement. --Freiberg 01:52, 16 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

suggestion recensere

We may want to change this to 'featured article' ('lemma egregium'?) or somesuch, given the violence we are doing to the word 'mensis' here. —Myces Tiberinus 16:10, 21 Decembris 2005 (UTC)Reply

You know we now have several nominees, but few votes. The number of nominees though suggests that perhaps a "featured" category, like on the ENglish wikipedia, might now be plausible. We could take steps to encourage people to pay special attention to articles in that category, make lots of corrections, edits, and additions. This might facilitate getting such pages to pagina cuiusdam temporis spatii quality. --Iustinus 23:27, 21 Decembris 2005 (UTC)Reply

As far as I am concerned, any of the proposed articles would be fine - perhaps we could just take all the articles mentioned on this talk page, put them in a list, and run them one at a time for a month (or less, if there are a lot). A featured category wouldn't hurt, but we would still need someone to change the page. Since there doesn't seem to be much interest in voting for pages, I would propose that we pick one person (Iustinus?) and let him select the articles. Later on, if there is more interest, (and more active Latin wikipedians), perhaps a more formal system would work, but having one reasonable person should work smoothly enough, I think. --Tbook 18:43, 1 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

monthly recensere

Ok, it should be set to automatically update, by month, out of all the articles suggested here so far. If anyone cares to start proposing articles now for December and onwards, well, you have eleven months to speak up. :p —Myces Tiberinus 21:53, 9 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

List of monthly pages recensere

Here a list of the subpages ... --Roland2 12:08, 14 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

You can see the current content of the subpages named by month. Seems like a default setting which can be discussed but will even work in case nobody cares about future paginae(as?) menses. ;-) --Roland2 23:50, 14 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that is the theory, it should automatically change according to the current month. And if no new articles are added for the future it will just repeat... Better, I suppose, for the same page to be page of the month the same month every year than to for the same page to be page of the month for six or seven months at a time ;) But hopefully we will be able to come up with more articles to feature. —Myces Tiberinus 02:54, 15 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tigris is getting to the point where it HAS to be nominated ;) --Iustinus 07:52, 18 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tigris mihi placeret, cum imagine illinc indicata sub titulo "Subspecies" Habemus et omnes menses 2007 pro articulis pluribus. Et si plus habemus articulos pulchros quam menses, possimus etiam Paginam Hebdomodae facere. --Tbook 16:23, 18 Ianuarii 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think that tigris is the article for pagina mensis/demcembris. --Misericordia 13:40, 23 Februarii 2006 (UTC)Reply

String Theory Picture recensere

Can we replace the picture for the String Theory article (currently up)? It looks really naff up on the Main Page. There are some nice images on the English article, but I don't know if our one covers the same material. Daniel () 15:03, 1 Iunii 2006 (UTC)Reply
