Dawkinsia est genus piscium familiae Cyprinidarum, a genere Puntio nuperrime disiunctum.[1] Ex Ricardo Dawkins biologo evolutionario appellatur ob res quas "populari scientiae cognitioni, imprimis scientiae evolutionariae, ipse contulit."[2] Dawkins nomen generis "magnum honorem" existimat.[3]
