The intention recensere

  • This is a list of habits we are having in the Latin Wikipedia.
  • Feel free to add what you think is an established habit.
  • Feel free to move (= "movere") the templates, if you think the name is not appropriate.
  • Feel free to create redirects, for example, if you can provide a Latin title. E. g. "De fontibus" for "About sources".
  • The name of all English snippets should start with "About ...", the Latin titles might start with "De ...".

The idea is, that instead of explaining the same things individually to users, we can point them to these snippets.

So we could say:

Please read {{about sources}}.

Which is written this way:

 Please read {{fn|about sources}}.

We could even think of templates with parameters like:

 Please read {{about sources|la}}. ... in Latin
 Please read {{about sources|de}}. ... in German
 Please read {{de fontibus|la}}.         ... same as {{about sources|la}}

 or, a bit trickier:
Please read {{about|sources|la}}. ... the template is called in English, topic=sources, lang=Latin

The list recensere

100 {{About translations}} When we are writing about something whose original or basic name is in another language (like an Italian person, or a US state) we include the original name in the first sentence, in parentheses and in italics.
101 {{About redirects}} Google hits for an erroneous Latin name may be reason enough to make a redirect, so that people will find our article.
102 {{About questions}} Quaestiones rogantur in Vicipaedia:Taberna.
103 {{About registering}} Register and login instead of editing as an anonymous user.
104 {{About signing}} Sign your contributions on talk pages with 4 tildes (i. e. ~~~~).
