Cum Grant Wood et Ioanne Steuart Curry, unus ex ducibus motus artis picturae scaenicae Americanae (etiam motus regionalistici appellati) fuit. Fluidae figurae sculptae in eius picturis homines in scaenis vitae quotidianae in Civitatibus Foederatis monstrabant.
Quamquam eius opera cum Civitatibus Foederatis Medioccidentalibis valde consociantur, Lutetiae studuit, Novi Eboraci plus qum viginti annos habitavit, ubi permulta opera pinxit, quinquaginta annos Vineae Marthae ante litus Novae Angliae aestivavit, et imagines Civitatum Foederatarum Meridianarum et Occidentalium pinxit.
