Robertus filius regis, filius videlicet nothus Henrici I (natus saeculo XI exeunte; mortuus die 31 Octobris 1147), comes Glocestriae a patre creatus, fuit sectator sororis Mathildis in bello quod contra Stephanum regem gessit. Mabiliam mense Iunio 1119 in matrimonium duxit.

Roberto dicavit Galfridus Monemutensis Historiam regum Britanniae. Exemplar huius operis Robertus mutuatus est quodam Gualtero Espec, qui librum Constantiae praebuit, patronae Galfridi Gaimar. Gaimar usus est ad componendum opus de Bruto Troiano et progenie sua Britannica; hoc opus autem hodie deperditum est. Eruditi nonnulli Robertum fuisse censent qui exemplar aliud monasterio Beccensi donaverit: ibi Henricus Huntindoniensis mense Ianuario 1139 repperit et perlegit.[1]
