Lythraceae
Lythraceae sunt familia plantarum florentium quae 500–600 species comprehendit, praecipue herbarum, aliorumque fruticum et arborum, in triginta duobus generibus digessorum. Lythraceae paene ubique in orbe terrarum habitant, plurimis speciebus in regionibus torridis, sed aliis in climatibus temperatis.
Familia, de genere typico, Lythro, nominato, Punica granatum nunc comprehendit, olim in familia Punicacearum classificata; familia arbores generis Lagerstroemiae, latissime cultos, etiam comprehendit.
In arte herbaria (botanice), folia usitate sunt opposita, et flores habent petala quae ex ore tubi calycis emergunt. Petala saepe corrugata videntur.
