Ioannes Bagnell Bury
Ioannes Bagnell Bury (J. B. Bury; natus die 16 Octobris 1861 apud Clontibret comitatus Monaghan Hiberniae; mortuus Romae die 1 Iunii 1927) fuit philologus, recensor textuum Graecorum, rerum gestarum scriptor. Fuit alumnus et ab anno 1885 socius Collegii Trinitatis iuxta Dublinum; ibi ab anno 1893 fuit professor historiae recentioris, ab anno 1898 et Graecitatis, sed anno 1902 apud Cantabrigienses professor historiae recentioris electus est, in qua universitate fuit Collegii Regalis socius. Cantabrigiae postea Stephanus Runciman praetendit se "solum discipulum" Buryi fuisse, qui eum ab initio amittere voluit, mox autem revenientem symbolas Bulgarice scriptas Anglice vertere iussit itaque ut amanuensem accepit.
Bury historiam Byzantinum apud lectores Anglicos renovavit; historias conscripsit Graecorum et Romanorum scholaribus etiam hodie utiles; insuper editionem novam, adnotationibus munitam, Eduardi Gibbon History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire paravit. Editiones carminum Pindaricorum Isthmianorum et Nemeanorum curavit.
