Insulae Mascarenae
Insulae Mascarenae[1][2][3] seu Mascarena[4] est grex insularum in Oceano Indico ad orientem Madagascariae iacentium, inter quas numerantur Mauritia, Reunio, Rodrigues, Agaléga, vada Cargados Carajos, atque arenarum cumuli Saya de Malha, Nazareth, et Soudan, qui olim erant insulae. Nomen conlectum ex Petro Mascarenhas, navigatore Lusitano, deducitur, qui primum regionem saeculo sexto decimo ineunte visitavit. Insulis est communis origo geologica in vulcanismo loci calidi Reunionis sub Planitiem Mascarenam, et se distinctam efficiunt oecoregionem, cui sunt unica flora et fauna
