Disputatio:Vasconia

Maybe it is a good idea to make three pages out of Vasconia and make a discretiva:
- Vasconia (Communitas Autonoma) for the Spanish administrative region
- Vasconia (territorium) for what the nationalists claim the Basque fatherland is (Euskal Herria)
- Vasconia (regio Francica) for the French region
- Ducatus Vasconiae for the early Gascony

- Yes to 1 and 4. I am sure it makes sense to give a page to any administrative unit and to deal there with its official and political history.
- 3 is not a "regio" in the usual French sense -- it's much smaller than that -- but it is (even officially, these days!) a pays, so I guess it should be Vasconia (pagus Francicus): OK?
- My only hesitation about 2 is: would it have a big overlap with what we say about the Basque people and their history? If so, should we essentially make one article, Vascones (if that is the proper term) to cover the people and the country? ... I'm just thinking aloud, I don't feel sure ... There has to be some place for defining the limits of the country, and maybe, as you suggest, that belongs in Vasconia (territorium) rather than Vascones ... - The territory of the Vascones does not match what the nationalists claim as the basque fatherland, v. es:Euskal Herria--Xaverius 17:54, 25 Maii 2008 (UTC)
- OK. That seems a good reason to have no. 2 also, then. Though it may be a short article if its only subject is "what the nationalists claim the Basque fatherland is". Andrew Dalby (disputatio) 18:11, 25 Maii 2008 (UTC)
