Disputatio:The Simpsons

Latest comment: abhinc 1 annum by IacobusAmor

Are people sure about the characters' names here? I think for example that Bartholomaeus and Magdalena Simpson sound a bit too excessive. Granted, Bart's true name in the English version is Bartholomew but it is never referred to him so, give or take 2 occasion. Sure, these words might be the correct translation but I don't think I'd catch myself using them personally; shouldn't we try to remain a tad colloquial? --BiT 13:03, 26 Iunii 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, it's a side-effect of the rule of translating names. Latin names don't often come with short forms. Though one could argue that they should remain unchanged as they're trademarks. ('Magdalena' is wrong anyway; it would be Margarita, like her mother.) —Mucius Tever 12:43, 27 Iunii 2008 (UTC)Reply
use the english name and the latin name in parentesis--190.22.71.13 19:14, 3 Iulii 2008 (UTC)Reply
No, thanks.--Ioscius (disp) 22:14, 3 Iulii 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is there any opposition to using the English names? --BiT 13:24, 10 Martii 2009 (UTC)Reply
Fortasse melius:
Bartholomaeus Simpson, saepissime dictus Bart, est. . . .
For the adverb, I'd suggest semper, except that it's conceivable that the full name has been mentioned in one or more episodes. You've got to get the Bart in there because the series has an episode in which a joke is made of the fact that another kid is named Bort [sic]. IacobusAmor 13:34, 10 Martii 2009 (UTC)Reply
You don't really need to use [sic] after Bort, as it is his real name ;) who ever he is --BiT 13:47, 10 Martii 2009 (UTC)Reply
The [sic] shows here that the author hasn't made a typo. IacobusAmor (disputatio) 16:04, 13 Septembris 2023 (UTC)Reply
(also, images which don't add anything to the article like the donut one with the "Cibus Homeri carus" caption should be removed, otherwise why not add a picture of a pacifier, a picture of a pearl necklace, a picture of beer, a picture of a skateboard etc. Almost nobody speaks fluent Latin so it's only natural to add tiny tidbits like that which are easy to write but they aren't relevant; this wouldn't be allowed on any other language) --BiT 13:27, 10 Martii 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Familiam Simpsoniam" dempsi, nam (1) potius "The Simpson family" latine reddit (cum "The Simpsons" latine "Simpsonii" dicatur; cf. Gracchi etc.); (2) cum "The Simpsons" nondum latine divulgetur, non est cur illo saltem nomine Latino utamur. Neander (disputatio) 21:34, 16 Martii 2018 (UTC)Reply

Groening photo

recensere

Topping the article with a photo of Groening is wrong, and annoying. It should be a photo of the Simpsons themselves, not of their creator. But in fact, no such photo appears at all anywhere in the article. Toddcs (disputatio) 12:52, 13 Septembris 2023 (UTC)Reply
