If "the people of Taiwan don't want to be associated with the country of China" they wouldn't have, since its inception, a constitutional claim of sovereignty over it—whence the name. See en:Republic of China, en:Provinces of the Republic of China#Claims over mainland China and Mongolia, en:One-China policy, and the several discussions on the title at en:Talk:Republic of China and its archives. Plus, of course, Taiwan is only one part of the ROC, even if you're only counting the parts they have de facto sovereignty over. Recte mones. The ROC government governs many islands not just Taiwan Island/Formosa. Nevertheless, since the nineties a visa to the country says "Republic of China (Taiwan)" recognizing in someway that Taiwan is an alternative name or that the republic's sovereignty resides in Taiwan, or any other number of ambiguous interpretations. Name in Latin

What should be the correct translation of "Republic of China" in Latin? The title is "Res publica Sinarum", while there is also another name "Respublica Sinae". Maybe using only one of them is more proper. APOOGM 05:25, 19 Septembris 2010 (UTC)

China in latin is Sinae; although Sina has been used in some old maps, the overwhelming use is of Sinae. Thus the literal translation of China is Sinarum. Did you find Respublica Sinae in a reliable source or are you just going by some unreliable wiki site?123.192.64.184 06:52, 19 Septembris 2010 (UTC)
