We now normally use a more standard international transliteration of Arabic names, but I'm not sure what that would be here. German Wikipedia says Ely Ould Mohamed Vall "(arabisch ‏إعلي ولد محمد فال‎, DMG Iʿlī walad Muḥammad Fāl)." Walad, Ould, or Uld? Val or Fal? Lesgles (disputatio) 15:07, 29 Decembris 2015 (UTC)

West African Muslim names, filtered via French, seem very different from ordinary Arabic ones. If the French spelling is used nationally and internationally it may be simplest to stick with it, at least for the present. I don't know what's best, honestly.
