Thanks for the links (I was going to look up the maritime alps this morning), but no, Particular Baptists aren't plain old baptists (en: "The Particular Baptists arose in England in the 17th century and took their name from the doctrine of particular redemption"), and so they need their own name (whether an article on them is forthcoming or not), and Baptists in general should probably link to Baptistae, not to baptismus. ¶ By the way, is my secta the best term for 'religious denomination'? Vicipaedia needs to have an article for it, as that topic is one of the 10,000 most important ones listed at Meta. The English wikipedia has separate articles: Religious denomination and Sect. Should these become Secta religiosa and Secta, respectively? IacobusAmor (disputatio) 13:40, 5 Decembris 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, mea culpa! My inexpert thought (encouraged by a few difficulties of expression in the text) was that all types of Baptists can be subsumed under baptismus, but I readily stand corrected. ¶ Yes, we need a general article on secta. ¶ By the way, ne mireris, I took ordo beneficialis from lexicon Vilborgianum. Yes, we've occasionally noticed that Vilborg supplies names for modern concepts that Traupman lacks. Please keep them coming! :D IacobusAmor (disputatio) 15:08, 5 Decembris 2019 (UTC)Reply
I confess (no pun intended) to being linguistically biased, but what comes to my mind is "confessio religiosa", just like Austrian Lutherans call themselves Evangelische Kirche Augsburgischen Bekenntnisses (Ecclesia evangelica Confessionis Augustanae). I'm not necessarily against "secta", but we should then first clarify how we distinguish that from a sect, which in many languages now has a specific and negative undertone (fr:secte, de:Sekte). For "sect," French, German, and Spanish have secte, Sekte, and secta, respectively. For "religious denomination," the idea of a confession seems common to German, Italian, and Esperanto, whereas French has Dénomination religieuse and Spanish has Denominación religiosa, but we almost certainly should avoid denominatio, respecting as much as possible the activity implied by the tio(n) suffix, which for denominatio would give us 'a denominating, a naming.'
