Why is this article in the category "Ecclesia Catholica" (i.e., "Ecclesia Catholica Romana")?

Advent is also observed by Episcopalians, Anglicans, Lutherans, perhaps miscellaneous other Protestant sects, presumably the Greek & Russian churches, and maybe even others. It isn't particular to the Roman church. Maybe the whole category needs reexamining. IacobusAmor 17:26, 19 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is a point for further categories, not against this one. For the Rhine river you can also have categories Switzerland, Germany, France, Netherlands. --Alex1011 17:51, 19 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, it's a point for including it in a higher category, not multiple lower categories. 'Adventus' is not a differentia specifica of Catholicism. If it's a characteristic of Christian churches, you put it (as en does) under some Christian holiday category; if it is characteristic of some well-defined subset of Christianity, it can go to a more specific category. If the article describes vertebrae, you don't categorize it under dog anatomy, under fish anatomy, under raccoon anatomy, and under every other animal that happens to sport a spine, but under the one general category of vertebrate anatomy. You do this because it is only incidental that Catholics have Advent and fish have backbones: they only have them because they belong to the larger group--of churches celebrating traditional Christian holidays or animals built with vertebrate anatomy. (The Rhine river would ideally go under something like 'rivers of [Western] Europe'; if it passes through all those countries, I would rather call e.g. France a country of the river than the Rhine a river somehow belonging to France, which only has a bit of it. But in this case en does not agree with me, though this is probably because countries are seen as being more important than rivers and continents.) --Myces Tiberinus 19:22, 19 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)Reply
According to Webster, Advent is "the period beginning four Sundays before Christmas and observed by some Christians as a season of prayer and fasting." So the obviously appropriate category is whatever "SOME CHRISTIANS" implies. In a secular sense, Advent is the season during which Christmas carols are often heard on radio, in shopping malls, and so forth. IacobusAmor 18:58, 19 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)Reply
Mycae Iacoboque consentio. Sit melius supercategoriam imponere et subcategoriam removere.--Ioshus (disp) 19:53, 19 Ianuarii 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Alex recensere

ad sententiam vituperatam recensere

Haec sententia puerilis latine reddita haud apta videtur, quia versus in syllabis extremis non concinunt, - id quod theodisce fit:

Advent, Advent,
ein Lichtlein brennt.
Erst eins, dann zwei,
dann drei, dann vier,
dann steht das Christkind vor der Tür.

Fieri potest, ut liberi audaciores huic carmini addant:

Und wenn das fünfte Lichtlein brennt,
Lucente quinta candela
dann hast du Weihnachten verpennt!
frustra festum contrivisti.

Id censeo non solum celandum, sed funditus esse tollendum . --Bavarese (disputatio) 11:49, 13 Ianuarii 2016 (UTC)Reply

Assentior ego, quamquam conversionem sine Reim factam aliquando utilem puto. Hoc autem canticulum Theodiscum in pagina Latina non mihi magni momenti esse videtur. Ecce verba quae modo sustuli:
Primo unum lumen lucet
tum duo
deinde tria
postremo quattuor
tum Nativitas ante portas.
