Triassico superiori
Chinlestegophis, coniecturale chordatum Triassicum cum metoposauroideis sicut Rileymillerus conectum, est exstinctum stereospondylianorum genus, quod multas proprietates cum caecilianis communicat, vivo amphibiorum defodentium cruribusque carentium grege. Si quidem Chinlestegophis est ambo stereospondylus provectus et cognatus caecilianorum, stereospondyli (formam caecilianorum habens) ad praesens supervivunt.[1] Chinlestegophis jenkinsi, typus et sola species nota, duobus calvariis e Formatione Chinle in Colorato in Civitatibus Foederatis exfossis agnoscitur.
