Capsaicinum, nomine systematico 8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamidum, in fructibus generis Capsici natura producitur. Inde gignitur caliditas vel pungentia(en) gustativa horum fructuum (a nonnullis sapor, ab aliis dolor censita) quam homines mammaliaque sentiunt.
