Vedanta primus in Hinduismo fuit verbum sicut cognominis pro parte corporis Vedae magis cognoscitur sicut Upanishad. Nomen est cuiusdam modi forma Veda-anta = "Veda -finis" = "appendix hymnis vedicis". A saeculo octavo verbum evenit ut significat mores philosophicos de quo intellegatur quod sit ultimam res naturae (id est Brahman). Complectitur varias scholas, videlicet Dvaitādvaita et Vishishtadvaita et Sri Lakshmi Visishtadvaita et Dvaita et Advaita Vedanta, et alias.
