If you want to rename a page "A" to "B",
If you think, the content of page "A" should get the title "B", simply go to page "A" and click on "movere" (one of the buttons on top of a page). Then you will be asked for the new title for the content (here "B") and you
Moving will do the following:
# It creates a page "B" with the content of "A", including its entire page history (all previous edits and their respective authors)
# It
# If there exists a talk page of "A" it moves the content to the talk page of "B" and leaves a redirect on the talk page of "A".
It is usually not a good idea to do this manually (to create a new page "B" and to copy the content from "A" to "B"): That way, the page history (the previous edits and their respective authors) remains at "A", and people looking at "B" will not see the names of the authors that contributed to the content. Your move would most probably constitute a violation of the GFDL, which requires attribution to authors.
You can do these steps manually, however, it is much easier to use this "movere" feature. A moved page can be moved again, so moving is - technically - not a dangerous action. However, if you think the community will not like the new title, it is a good idea to ask before moving the page. If you think the move is ok ... just do it.▼
